Graduated of: Cairo University, Faculty of Arts, Journalism Department, 1970.

Career achievements:

  • Mainly concerned with Civil Society issues related to freedom of express and developing Media in Egypt and the Middle East.
  • Highly concerned in Journalists causes and Syndicate of Egyptian Journalism issues since 1980’s.
  • Published many books, researches and essays concerning the media challenges in the 21th century and the history of Journalism.
  • Elected as a member of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Council from 1995 till 1999, and 1999 till 2003 elected as a vice president of the Syndicate.
  • Elected as a vice president of Freedom Committee in the Federation of Arab Journalists (FAJ), 2000.
  • The main organizer of the 4th Conference of the Egyptian Journalists held in 2004.
  • Deputy Editor-in-chief, Middle East News Agency (MENA), 2006-2013.
  • General Coordinator and one of the Founders of the National Coalition  for  Press Freedom (NCMF), Founded by collaboration between media Activists and NGOs after the 25th January revolution.
  • Coordinator of the Steering Committee of the National Commission for Self-Regulation of the Media, 2012.
